day.
Three straight wins and the championship all wraped up.
But what dramas!!!
The points were so close that it was all down to the last race on the last
day.
Friday practice with the slipperclutch working for the first time, the lap
times were tumbling down, then the engine gave out a death rattle. As I
slowed there was an almighty clunk and it was bad.
Several teeth had broken off the crankshaft and the motor was totalled.
With no spare it seemed all was lost, but I wasn't going to give up. I
called a mate to see if he knew where I could get a crankshaft from to
dodgie it up just for the three races.
Like a true racer he said,"just get here and I'll start pulling my road bike
engine out"
After a quick drive to Thomastown to pick it up, we worked on it till 4 am
fitting a stock commuter engine that hadn't run for 2 years!
After a 20 min snooze we whacked in oil, water and fuel to see if it
started.
It was a runner!!!!!
I still cant believe I managed to win all three races with only reving the
motor to 9,500 RPM. I usually get it up to around 13,000 but I didn't want
to blow Johny's motor up!
IF YOU WANT SOMETING BAD ENOUGH, NEVER EVER GIVE UP!!!!!
Without the help of Chris working around the clock to get Johny's motor in
and running, and Tracy doing everything else to keep us going, it all would
have been over on Friday.
Now starts the long road to finding the money and time to get the new motor
finished and running for the endurance race in December. It also means I
will have to cancel our entry in the 3 interclub and state title races for
this year. But hey! We won the big championship! And that was the goal for
the year.
The pic attached is Chris on the left, Johny (the legend) in the middle and
yours truly on the right.
Thanks everyone for your inerest and support........see you soon.
Chris Rostron
I second that

and great job Tracy and Kate photos are fantastic
Jac.
Do you like the pics up
Do you like the pics up above? The first one you see I took at Winton and then the one that shows when you move your curser over the pic is one that tracy took at Philip Island. I like this rollover affect. Be very good for showing abike sideon and then the hover pic a close up of the engine etc .
Anyhow , I second the three cheers for chris winning the year. Its a great achievment, especially with the dramas of the last round of the year- the only one i missed - through injury . Hopefully tracy will fill us in .
