Day 5 – Monday 6th November – Beechworth to Home
Early start as we have a tour of Browne Brothers Winery arranged, courtesy of Smithy, need to be at the winery by 10.00am. Quick continental style breakfast included in the tariff, a petrol stop then follow Smithy and his GPS to Milawa. Arrived on schedule, the bottling plant manager gave us a personal tour of the plant before leaving us to do a bit of wine tasting before heading out to Mansfield via Whitfield. We were sensible keeping the tasting to a bare minimum.
Bugger suggested the Tolmie Pub for lunch. Another sedate ride down to Whitfield before the urge took over and the pace lifted a touch over the top to Mansfield. Great ride only a few vehicles to slow progress. Soon reached Tolmie and the pub for lunch.
Recommend you stop at the pub, hospitality fantastic and the burgers un-believable, so tall they had to be held together with a skewer. Not sure how the guys managed to wade through that amount of food and still ride.
Final petrol stop at Mansfield then a sedate ride back down to Melbourne via Alexandria, Buxton, Black Spur, Healsville and Lilydale.
Final stop at McDonalds Lilydale to complete the loop, a final coffee and to say our goodbyes.
This was a fantastic ride, well up there with all previous Snowy Rides. Plans are already being made for next year’s event.

What a fantastic read and great photos . The ice run is only three weeks away on many of the same roads , but its touch and go whether I will be up for it healthwise. Might have to seriously consider the Snowy Ride now.
