Mac Park Conquered

Well another round completed and not without it's share of dramas. Kate and I set off around 3:30pm from Blackburn and headed for Mt Gambier. The city run was pretty busy but a clear run the rest of the way. We reached Mt Gambier around 8:30pm and after some confusing and very strange directions from the guys already at the track..haha ( At the funny little roundabout ) NOT!!! it was a big roundabout, turn left... then when you see ( the little people ) on a sign turn right..haha, we made it to the track in one piece. All be it with a nice chip in my windscreen Sad . Friday track day went well and the bike performed brilliantly after a gearbox rebuild. Saturday proved to be even better with Chris claiming pole position for his races. The first race on Saturday netted the first trophy of the weekend. Sunday started off with another win in the first race but only JUST !!! After running off the track Chris still managed to cross the finish line in FIRST place Smile. But not long after the finish line the bike decided to just stop on the track. A few tense moments past before he finally arrived back at the pitts on the back of a trailer. Having frantically pulled the bike apart to find out what was wrong, it was discovered that it was an electrical problem and with no way of getting parts... ( thanks to all the auto elec's in Mt Gambier being closed ) there was no way of fixing the bike to complete the last race Sad So now begins the hard slog to make up the pionts to win this years chamionship. So with no more racing for the weekend we all kicked back and relaxed at the camp site then headed for the pub for dinner. Now for Monday !!! My god.. what a drive home. Way too many caravans and if you can.. STEER CLEAR of Geelong. That place is a joke. It took us a good hour to get from one side of Geelong to the other. Kate, if you ever want to share the drive to another race I'm all for it... Smile I had a ball all the way there and back..haha Our chat on being sucked off the back of a bike was priceless ( watch out Merc drivers ) hahaha. Jacqui it was great to finally meet you and I hope to catch up with you again. You were a great help to Chris with all that electrical mumbo jumbo..haha Thanks heaps Smile

was a good weekend

Hey Oz Chic it was a good week end except for the breakdown . So how did things go at Phillip Is on the weekend , did Chris clean up again??? and did Kate behave herself?? Jacqui

The GPZ performed well , no

The GPZ performed well , no breakdowns , and Chris got his best time to date at the island , 1.55 . Not to bad hey ! He one all three races and I think must be in the lead again . Best part though apart from winning his class was the second in the combined class race . Normally you'd see the thunderbikes well ahead , but not this time . The first past the post winner was a duke ( 748 I think ) and he was so far ahead it was ,like well , forget him . Second home though , ahead of those v twin thunders was .... yep... the green machine. But I'm sure another report will hit the site shortly with Pics . Some good pics too from tracer Smile and videos woot.

great weekend

Hi Jacqui, Yep was a great weekend. Chris cleaned up all the trophies and had a grin from ear to ear. Much deserved tho, he worked so hard to get the bike up and running for that race meet. He's now only one piont behind the leader... Sucks really coz he's won 8 out of 9 races and is still in second place.. all because he had a DNF at Gambier for that last race !! Kate behaved herself altho the slacker didn't come down till Saturday..haha.Her and I rode to and from the track each day....we had a ball.I managed to wrangle a pass to get access into the middle of the track with the officials so I could take pic's and video...woooo hoooo they turned out great, will try and work out how to post them up here..haha I'm blonde when it comes to computers. So whats this about a breakdown??? Did you have trouble on the way home? Hope to catch up with you soon Smile

breakdowns

no I was talking about the at race and the GPZ... its good to hear Chris went so well pity about the one point though. have you seen my new Thunderbike in my blog? I took it out again yesterday for a short ride, its a real beast and sounds like it too, makes the cops sit up as you pass by. Hoping video will be available over the weekend. still have to get some new bars with a little more rise in them to make it comfortable for touring but it should be good. cheers

Except perhaps when I couldn't resist the music when we were over the oppsite side of the track to the crowd and marshalls in the tower , and danced . We had quite an audience me and Dom , certainly the marshalls in the tower were smilining at our steps Smile But yes , again it was a great time and good riding there and back a couple of times. LOVE my heated grips though I must say. Have to get you up my way more though tracy and get you practising riding on gravel Wink
