Today I saw Mr Plod lane splitting - you know - that dangerous thing they have spent a lot of money on TV to warn us against. I'm amazed he didn't die instantly! This was just as I was waiting at the lights near on College crs near the Melbourne cemetery.

not so naughty . You could take a truck between those cars . You waited till he was near a mile away hey before you snapped the pic.

My camera wanted to focus b4 it would take the picture, and he covered the distance from my car to where he was in the pic in that time... maybe should have asked him to slow down.

Ah, but did he cross the white line? He is in the correct position at the moment
Qld's Law
Here in Qld a Travelling Motorcycle needs to be at least 1.5 metres from another vehicle. This is presented as a 'for your safety' in case a parked car opens its door. But of course if you were 'Lane Splitting' or whatever they call it nowadays, then you will need a distance of 1.5 metres either side of the bike and with the width of the bike as well you would need 3metres to Split legally without a solid white line either to further complicate things. Impossible!
So, in essence it is illegal to Lane Split without actually making it illegal.
Anyway as Cops have told me on a number of occasions "Police can do anything they need to in the course of their duty !" ,,," Now here is your ticket and shut up..."
Yes, he did cross the line.
Yes, he did cross the line. When he was behind me he was in the right lane and switched lanes between passing me and me taking the picture.

I wanted to arrest him, but with driving, talking on the phone and taking the picture while trying to eat my McMuffin taxed all my resources. Even my lipstick ended up crooked!

Ah yes. The iconic car driver.......
The unenforced Law.
I will buy a a Hog's Breath meal (if R on B can get organised) for the first person to provide documented proof of being booked for lane splitting/filtering, as distict to herbing between vehilcles at speed.
I filter nearly every day I ride and have not even seen Plod, let alone have them in the position where they can pull me over. Even then, I recon I'd talk myself out of it
Keep filtering, until one of us gets caught.

I can prove you don't get booked. I split between 6 coppers, three and three. One only pulled me over cause of my dirty number plate and gave me a warning. week later same copper pulls me up and gives me a serve for not cleaning it so he fined me. Funny thing is there was something wrong with the fine so I haven't had to pay it yet! Anyway, it was much easier getting a new bike than try and clean that plate.
New Victorian Road Rules
A possible consequence of the new Victorian Road Rules with regard to filtering is the change to crossing a single solid white line. Now most (if not all) traffic lights have solid white lines to mark either the centre road divider or lanes.
The new rules state that you must not cross a single solid white line (on your side of the road) unless you are turning into/out of a road or driveway etc. So, in theory, if you filter at a set of traffic lights and cross the solid white line, then you are in breach of the new rule.
Conversely, I have seen nothing that states you must not pass another vehicle (on the right) if you do not cross a centre dividing line (broken line on your side excepted). But is anyone willing to argue the toss with Mr. Plod about this and to spend both time and money to continue the argument in court? I suggest that is something the police tend to rely upon when they issue tickets in these circumstances.
