Ride to Flowerdale pub for lunch March 8

(Wasn't sure whether to post this as a forum discussion or just blog it.) Hi all. It was short notice but I had sent out a text to the crew I know on Saturday evening regarding a lunch run to the Flowerdale pub. I had seen on the tv that the Yarra Valley were screaming for business after the fires so thought this would be a good idea. There ended up being just the three of us, Kate, Joe the Bugger and myself, which was cool. I would've been a big girl and gone by myself if no one else could make it. It was eery riding up the slide with the denuded trees in the sepia-toned landscape. I didn't know there were houses there in the Toolangi forest near the road. Flowerdale pub was busy as it seemed other people had the same idea that I had. The grub was up to its usual standard. The braised beef was delicious and the mashed potatoes amazing. Ran into some Melbourne Ulysses riders who I knew and the banter was on. Tried to pressure them into attending their May Ice Run. Got one who said yes! We finished off with a drink at the Molesworth pub before heading back home via Yea as the Black Spur was still closed. Took a couple of photos which Kate efficiently snapped from my phone via Bluetooth to load onto this site but they haven't appeared yet.......Kate. Can't think of a better way to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon. AND Kate's bike started fine every time to my relief. Thought I'd have to buy her a Harley badge and call in a ute! Hmmm, maybe I could rename her bike the Red Healer!

Yep. a good day, so thanks

Yep. a good day, so thanks for organising it, even though the ride back from Molesworth was a bit boring. " Red Healer " haha , and a joke about harleys . Err , about those pictures . I dont know wtf happened to them . Cant find them anyhow . Must have been that second shandy. Bloody Ulysses . Lucky we got in first for the lunch order 'cause they usually wipe out all the supplies theres so many of them. Yeh, those houses that were revealled by the fire , wow. What got me was the randon nature of the destruction . Also those little wooden houses that were fine . So much for the governments new no wooden house policy. BTW , I was told the Glendale collased because of wind and heat combined. It just gave up the ghost and fell over . Thats the goss I was told anyhow . The word around St Andrews is the owner had his hand on the door , turned the knob , and the pub collapsed . If its not true its a great story and deserves its urban legend ranking to come. P.S. Normally you could comment /report on a ride in the calender , but this ride wasn't posted so Blog is fine. Post where you like really , I can always shift it for you if you want later.
